Technician checking a gas furnace in the brick cellar of a Hermann, MO home

Heating in Hermann, MO

Heating in Hermann has to carry a house through about 116 freezing nights a year, so start with what you burn: city gas, propane or electricity. We repair, replace and tune furnaces and heat pumps on all three, and we quote the work before we start.

Heating services

Which heating service do you need?

Pick by what the system is doing today.

City gas, propane or electric: what heats your address?

Read your bill first, because the fuel decides the equipment. Inside the City of Hermann, gas is municipal.

Inside the City of Hermann, gas service is municipal, so the bill comes from the city.

Outside city limits it varies: Ameren, Spire, a rural co-op, or a tank in the yard with no main nearby. Our propane furnace service covers the regulator, orifices and venting that make LP different.

Heat pumps and ground-source heat

Heat pumps suit homes off the gas main, as long as defrost works through a winter averaging lows near 24°F. We handle heat pump repair and heat pump installation.

What should a heating contractor check first?

Safety, then the fault. The CPSC wants fuel-burning heat, flues and vents professionally inspected every year, and heating repair follows the same order: gas, venting, then the part that failed.

Common questions

Who do I call when the heat quits outside office hours?

Call us anyway and tell us what is happening. The office runs weekdays from 8 to 4, so we cannot promise a night or weekend visit. If you smell gas, leave the house first and call from outside. If the house is cooling fast, read our emergency furnace repair page.

Does natural gas reach homes outside Hermann?

Some, and many do not. Inside the city, the Hermann Gas System supplies gas. Beyond city limits the supplier changes by address, and plenty of farms run on propane or electricity because no main reaches them. Your bill or your tank answers this faster than a map, and it changes which equipment fits.

Should I fix my heating system or replace it this winter?

Fix it if the system is under about 15 years old and the failure is a part such as an igniter, sensor or motor. Get a replacement price too if the heat exchanger has failed or the repairs keep coming. Ask us for both numbers before you approve anything.
